With over 20 years of experience in dento-alveolar surgery, the removal of teeth is a routine specialist procedure for the team. There are many reasons why you may have been referred for a surgical extraction of a tooth.

Extensive decay, complicated root structures, proximity to nearby anatomical structures or impacted teeth may be strong indicators for surgical extractions. Wisdom teeth often require surgery as they are commonly impacted and do not have enough room to erupt normally into the mouth.

Dental implant surgery is the premier method of replacing missing teeth in the jaws. Dental implants provide the best foundation for replacement of lost teeth that look, feel and function as your natural teeth would. We provide advanced computer planning and guided surgery techniques to provide optimal surgical results. Working closely with your dentist, we offer a variety of implant brands, to ensure the best possible outcome, customised to your mouth and jaws.

Corrective Jaw Surgery, also known as Orthognathic Surgery, involves procedures that realign disproportioned jaw bones to enable the best possible bite for function and to balance the facial profile. Developmental problems include overgrowth, undergrowth and asymmetry of the jaws and facial skeleton.

Orthognathic Surgery is generally conducted in a team approach, with close collaboration with orthodontists, to optimally plan and correct the bite and provide good facial balance.

Temporomandibular Disorders (TMDs) are very common and most people have symptoms at some stage during their life. Fortunately, most spontaneously resolve but for some, these problems can be long-term. The temporomandibular joints (TMJs) are unique joints that move in a hinge and slide motion with an articular disc between the bony articulations. This joint is also closely related to muscular and myofacial structures.

A thorough diagnostic assessment and stepwise treatment approach is often indicated with treatment starting with conservative therapy and progressing to surgery if needed.

Specialised surgery for mouth, face, & jaw pathologies with precise planning and expert care for optimal outcomes

The mouth, face and jaws are some of the most complex anatomical regions in the human body. Abnormalities of these structures, like structural changes, growths and tumours, are commonly referred to as "pathology". This can be classified as benign or malignant. Pathologies can affect any structure in this region including the soft tissues, the tongue, salivary glands and the jaws.

We provide specialised investigation by imaging and biopsies to establish a diagnosis. Detailed and precise surgical planning is undertaken to ensure the best possible surgical outcomes and preserve form and function for your individual case. Surgery is highly specialised and utmost care is taken to protect critical nerve structures that move and give feeling to the face and tongue.

Additional Services

We work together with highly professional and experienced anaesthetists to provide a full range of anaesthetic options to suit your needs. This includes General Anaesthesia in a Hospital or Day Surgery, or in our clinic under Local Anaesthesia, with options for Sedation.

Our priority is your health and safety. Reception staff can help to communicate your requests to Dr Sun but confirmation about whether the procedure can be performed on the same day is only upon consultation and clinical assessment with Dr Sun.

Am I covered by Medicare or my Private Health Insurance?

Consultations and certain procedures are partially covered under Medicare. All fees and charges will be explained to you so you will know your out of pocket costs.

I have Hospital Cover and/or Extras Cover

If you have private health insurance, the cost of your surgery as well as any hospital and anaesthetic costs can be covered in whole or in part by your Health Fund. It is important to be aware of all your insurance covers (Hospital and Extras) as both types of cover may be applicable for OMS procedures, depending on the treatment you require.

Advice on how to make insurance claims and finding your expected out-of-pocket expenses will be provided to you upon quotation for your treatment.

I do not have private health insurance

If you do not have private health insurance, you can "self fund" your procedure. There may be some Medicare coverage depending on the treatment required. Assistance will be provided to you after your consultation.

Where will my surgery be performed?

Where the procedure is performed depends largely upon the complexity of treatment and your anaesthetic requirements.
